Check out Twenty-Nine Fresh Cards from Magic's TMNT Set (Featuring a Commander Deck!)

Everyone's favorite pizza-eating heroes are coming to the popular trading card game. The well-known trading card game's publisher, Wizards of the Coast, announced a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special event held at NYCC. Could this be a exciting addition or simply another crossover marketing move? Let you decide.

Take a look here at all the details announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful context. Everything listed below releases on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — a special Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27th.

MTG x TMNT: Core Set Reveals

Before we get into all the various unique products and bundles available, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set unveiled by Wizards. Standard booster packs for the expansion are set at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.

Let’s explore a few surprising details. First, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, where players can play big creatures into the battlefield when an attacker goes unblocked. The key change in this case is that this new ability can affect non-creature spells as well. The designers also used this chance to clean up the ability a bit (It counts as casting, as opposed to Ninjutsu). The original ability isn't going away, but it's more likely we'll see the new mechanic in future sets moving forward.

Should we go back to Kamigawa, we might use the original ability because that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark of that world,” an experienced game designer explained. “But in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and the new ability will be Standard-legal, it's more likely that we'd use Sneak.”

Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is among four cards with unique artwork created specifically for the expansion by TMNT original artist the co-creator.

Additionally, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play cards outside of your deck, many players were. Yet according to Wizards, it’s now a official card in all formats of Magic.

In any case, here are the extremely bizarre land cards with full art from this set:

As per the company’s current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. Developers say they were careful to ensure the cards and mechanics meshed well with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the design for 15 months and we knew it would be Standard-legal and which sets would be near it in standard,” a lead designer says. “Our goal was to make sure that there's synergy with certain expansions including Edge of Eternities.”

As an instance, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a blue-red archetype focused on artifact cards.

“They mesh together to offer the pieces for a fun Standard-legal deck,” the designer added.

Commander Deck: Turtle Power

After declining to create any Commander precons for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it includes six different legendary creatures that can serve as your commander based on how you combine them (five cards have a special Partner mechanic named “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command area instead of just one). Take a look below:

The Turtle Power deck is set at $69.99, though the price may rise based on popularity. Sources told that it contains 43 new cards in total, which means an extra thirty-seven TMNT-themed game cards besides the six legendary creatures shown above. (Calculating roughly, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we assume the precon comes with 37 lands.)

What will the TMNT version of Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Standard Bundle (Regular)

As per usual, Wizards is offering a bundle. It is priced at $69.99 and contains the listed items:

  • 9 Play Boosters
  • 15 Foil land cards
  • Fifteen Regular basic lands
  • 2 Reference cards
  • One Foil promo card
  • One Oversized spindown life counter
  • One Card-storage box

Pizza-Themed Bundle

This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, mostly in that it is packaged in what looks like a pizza box. Each Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the following:

  • Nine Play Boosters
  • One Collector Booster
  • Twenty-five Regular pizza lands
  • Five Foil pizza basic lands
  • Two Traditional foil pizza bundle promo cards
  • 2 Reference cards
  • One Oversized spindown life counter
  • 1 storage box

If you’re wondering about the “pizza bundle promo” means, it’s basically a reprint of an older card with brand-new TMNT artwork. Wizards showed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces onto a pizza. In total, there are six distinct pizza promos in total.

The Pizza Bundle releases a few weeks after the main set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Night

This unique product is designed for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:

  • Twelve Play Boosters (ideal for four people to draft)
  • 1 Premium Booster (also known as, the prize for coming in first)
  • 90 Regular basic lands (for building your deck)
  • Ten Regular double-sided tokens
  • One Draft insert (a one-sheet instruction sheet to drafting this expansion)

Cooperative Play Set

Lastly, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to develop Magic game products aimed at new players. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of decks that allow two players join forces against a “Boss” enemy deck that pilots itself.

The concept here that each Boss card gives unique powers to the creature cards included in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays an additional card per turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
