Vinicius Jr in action

Vinicius Jr has netted five finishes in ten domestic competition appearances during the current campaign.

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has said sorry to the fanbase for his response when taken off in Sunday's heated match against Barcelona victory.

The Brazilian was taken off in the second half and displayed his disappointment by walking immediately off the pitch.

Vinicius later returned to the bench and, following his side's 2-1 win, sought to engage Barça's opposing player during contentious after the game exchanges.

"Today I want to say sorry to all the Real Madrid fans for my behavior when I was substituted in the big match," the player wrote on his account.

"Similarly to I have said in person during today's training, I would like to express regret anew to my colleagues, the organization, and the club president.

"At times fervor gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my club. My determined nature comes from the passion I hold for this club and each thing it symbolizes."

The player joined Real from Brazil in the year 2018 for £38.7m and has scored over a century of strikes in more than 300 games.

But his prospects in the Spanish capital is unclear with reports in the past few months stating that Real would think about allowing the player leave if they obtained a appropriate bid.

When Vinicius was replaced on the match day, cameras from coverage provider the platform recorded him saying: "Always me! I'm leaving the team! It's better if I go, I'm leaving."

In his new statement on X, he said: "I promise to keep battling every second for the benefit of Los Blancos, as I have acted since the initial arrival."
